What’s The Difference Between Update And Upgrade?

Update Updates meant for various kind of software is mostly free. Because their price is often included in the amount you pay when you buy the software. That’s one of the reasons Windows comes so costly and gives you updated without any extra charge. It can be the other way round, most of the open source software vendors often provide both software and updates for free. In the case of an Upgrade, software vendors might charge you. But, nowadays, most of the apps and paid operating systems including Windows and MacOS have a free upgrade. Upgrade Installing an upgrade is more complicated and tedious as the amount of data that needs to replaced or copied is quite a large. It might even take a couple of hours to upgrade a system. Another thing that sets an update and an upgrade apart is the version. An upgrade released for a software makes a big change to the version number. For instance, Android 6.0 to Android 7.0, or Windows 8 to Windows 10.

What is WebUSB? How It Helps Connecting USB Devices To The Web???

Allowing the USB devices to connect to web apps directly is a major step towards simplifying and doing things faster. And WebUSB can play a significant role here. It’s a specification that describes how USB devices can be accessed from web pages. Support for WebUSB in browsers is enabled through the WebUSB API. The recently released Chrome 61 includes the same as one of the important developer features. With WebUSB API, the process for a web app to access a USB storage device or other peripheral is as simple as attaching it to a computer and making a few clicks after a notification shows up automatically. They’re more than a website accessing your pen drive’s data through your browser. For instance, WebUSB can act as a medium for students using development boards (like Arduino) to directly connect to the developer tools available online, instead of using some specially created interface between the browser and the hardware.

SpaceX Is ‘Sending A Linux-Powered Supercomputer To The Space’ For The First Time

SaceX and HPE (Hewlett-Packard Enterprise) have done the groundwork for almost a year to see if commercial supercomputers can survive in space and help humans explore the universe more efficiently. An isometric view of Spaceborne Computer. Credits: NASA the processing part on the supercomputer is handled by an open-source Linux-based operating system. For the next one year, which is the time required for a trip from Earth to Mars, the new home of the computer would be the International Space Station. At the International Space Station, the Spaceborne Computer will be subject to the conditions far harsher than that of the earth – cosmic rays, solar flares, micrometeoroids, and other radiations. The experiment involves analyzing the effect of extraterrestrial factors on the computing device and upgrade it accordingly, by adding a strong outer shield, to withstand the difficulties and function efficiently.

Debian GNU/Linux Running On Mobile Devices Like PocketCHIP, Samsung Galaxy, ZeroPhone, & Pyra

Debian is also called the universal operating system as it is used as a base for hundreds of Linux distributions. So, this claim also underlines that Debian should run on mobile devices too–right? Well, Debian developers are continuously working to add support for new devices and adapt it as per hardware and GUI capabilities of different devices.   These devices are: PocketCHIP — A small handheld computer with keyboard, USB, WiFi, running Debian 8 or 9. Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G — A Android phone with physical keyboard. It can already run portions of Debian userspace on Android kernel. ZeroPhone — An open source, Raspberry  Pi Zero-based smartphone with small screen and classic keypad. It ran Debian-based Raspbian OS. Pyra — A handheld computer with touchscreen. It’ll come with Debian preinstalled.
