An intranet is a private network which is only accessible to an organisation's staff. Usually a wide range of information from the organisation is available to the public from the internet. An intranet can consist of internal communication and it can provide a single starting point to access internal and external resources.
In it's simplest form an intranet is well-known with the technologies for Local Area Networks (LANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs). Intranets nowadays are also being used as culture change platforms.
For example, large number of employees discussing important issues in an intranet meeting can lead to new thoughts in management, production, excellence and other issues.
