Introduction
Imagine waking up to the golden dawn illuminating the Taj Mahal, traversing Kashmir's snow-capped slopes, or floating through Kerala's tranquil backwaters. Picture yourself in Kanyakumari, where three seas meet. These moments highlight why I enjoy travelling in India.
Every journey in India, from northern peaks to southern beaches, is unique due to its diversity and rich culture. Each state feels like its own nation, blending historical traditions with modern vibrancy. So far, my travels have taken me to Jammu and Kashmir, Shimla, Kullu, Manali, the Golden Temple, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Goa, Lonavala, Khandala, Mahabaleshwar, Mumbai, Alibaug, Kerala, Karnataka. Join me as I rank 3 favourite destinations of mine.
Jammu and Kashmir
Jammu & Kashmir, situated in the Himalayas, completely captivated me with its magnificent scenery and colourful culture. One memorable experience was I contracted chickenpox on the first day of our tour and because this ailment is very religiously significant to Indians, I was taken to Vaishno Devi Temple. Some think I am extremely fortunate that the most holy ailment was treated in such a hallowed setting.
What started as a normal trip turned into an unexpected pilgrimage. Despite feeling sick at first, the experience was unforgettable. The kindness of the people, the breathtaking landscapes, and the spiritual atmosphere made Jammu and Kashmir my favourite destination in India.
Rajasthan
Rajasthan has a particular place in my heart because I explored every nook of this colourful state, especially the famous “Pink City- Jaipur”. The towering palaces and forts left me in awe of the grandeur and rich history they represented.
However, what truly captured my taste buds was the unexpected thrill of rabri. This creamy, sweet dish quickly became my favourite, and I ate it twice a day for nine days straight. The mix of exploring gorgeous architecture and indulging in delectable rabri made Rajasthan an amazing experience for me.
Lonavala
Lonavala has a special place in my heart, and it is a custom we have followed since I was born. Every year, my family and I take a three-day trip to this gorgeous getaway. Our journey begins with a pilgrimage to a sacred temple atop a mountain, dedicated to our family deity, which sets the spiritual tone for our stay.
The rest of our day is spent immersed in Lonavala's natural splendour, which is especially lovely during the monsoon season when lush foliage and countless dams come alive. These annual vacations are more than just a tradition; they are a treasured time to bond, relax, and make lasting memories in the tranquil surroundings of Lonavala.
Travelling through India has been an endless source of excitement and discovery for me. Each travel brings new lessons, unexpected delights, and unforgettable moments. My fondness for travelling in India extends beyond simply visiting new sites; it is about engaging myself in the varied cultures, experiencing the local cuisine, and celebrating the unique traditions.
For me, travelling in India is much more than simply the destinations; it's about the experiences that touch your heart and the stories you bring back with you. Whether it's the thrill of discovering a hidden treasure or the satisfaction of revisiting a favourite area, my trips to India have impacted my love of travel and spurred my desire to explore even more.
Sharing these events with my large, loving family adds an extra layer of significance to them. Travelling with a group of 30-35 people who all have a passion for adventure is a blessing. Whether it's the thrill of planning our next adventure or the delight of making memories together, our family trips are profoundly priceless.
Have you ever felt the same exhilaration while travelling? What experiences have made your journeys unforgettable? Let's hear your stories and celebrate our common passion for adventure.
