Poverty refers to the situation in which a person remains underprivileged from the necessities of life. In addition, the person does not have an adequate supply of food, shelter & clothes.
Countries that are developing or underdeveloped stage face the situation of poverty more. It doesn't mean it is not seen in developed countries too. However, the ratio of poverty is comparatively low.
In-country like India most people are suffering from poverty and can't afford to pay for a single meal a day. Also, they live their lives on the footpath wearing dirty old torn clothes. Even if they do not meet proper healthy and nutritious food, neither medicine nor any other necessary things.

Let's discuss the causes of poverty; In India, the rate of poverty is increasing day by day because of the urban population. migration of the rural population to urban cities In search of better livelihood. Most people discover underpaid jobs that pay only for their nutrition.
Most people in urban areas fall below the poverty line. it's an imaginary line to differentiate between people according to their earnings. Besides this, a huge number of people reside in low-lying areas or slums. For instance, Dharavi is the largest slum area in the Asia continent.
Corruption, Growing population, poor agriculture practices, the wide gap between rich and poor, illiteracy, unemployment, and the list goes on...
A large section of people is engaged in agricultural activities that pay very less.
