What is an operating system?

An operating system is a system of managing an operating computer through its resources and application software. It controls every aspect of the computer and its related devices, including its operating system and all applications. It also allows one to work with the computer without having to learn the language that the computer understands. It is essential to know that an OS-less computer is not very useful since it is not capable of handling most tasks.

Types of Operating System….

Operating systems are typically included with any computer that you purchase. The operating system included with a computer is the most common one, however it can be updated or even replaced altogether. Microsoft Windows, macOS and Linux are the most widely used operating systems on personal computers.

Current operating systems employ a graphical user interface (pronounced ‘gooey’). A GUI enables you to interact with your computer through icons, buttons, and menus all of which are displayed on the screen in the form of graphics and text.

 The Windows operating system was created by Microsoft back in the mid 1980.
